OPTIONAL CROSSOVER GUIDE

Who Wandered
Into the Academy?

What each figure brings from the original work, and what happens only in the new story.

Nested faces from the SIVE.BIO portrait.

PROVENANCE, NOT AN ANSWER KEY

The crossover does not rewrite the originals.

The source note names what belongs to the earlier work. The crossover note identifies what the Academy story newly invents.

ORIGINAL TO THIS STORY

Agnes Pell

The librarian whose ordinary work becomes the test of the new literary calendar.

In the crossover: Agnes is the central point of view. Her daughter, her keys, the door, and the reading at the end belong to this standalone fiction.

ORIGINAL TO THIS STORY

Ruth Pell

Agnes's daughter, arriving with lunch, returned books, and an uncomplicated interest in the brass book lift.

In the crossover: Ruth's exclusion by a BS invitation gives the institutional joke a practical human consequence.

ORIGINAL TO THIS STORY

Dr. Prowse

The Academy's Director of Permanent Recognition.

In the crossover: Prowse can turn any failure of the institution into a successful interpretation of that failure.

HISTORICAL / SWIFTIAN SOURCE

Jonathan Swift

The BS/AS conceit grows from the Swiftian machinery already built into The First Fault-Line.

In the crossover: Swift disputes the authenticity of the proposal bearing his signature and later witnesses the Academy administering it.

WONDROUS TRAVELS

Lin Reyes & Nisha

In the original cycle, Lin searches for her wife while successive systems translate their relation into categories they can process.

New here: Nisha's locked cabinet, Lin's search for the key, and their physical work carrying the glass away are Academy events.

THE SCHATTENDORF ECHOES

Hermann & Julia

The original sequence places an artist, mother, daughter, inherited Mansion, political history, and unresolved obligations in the same composition.

New here: the Mansion appearing inside the Academy and Julia waiting by the door while an exhibit threatens to delay her again.

CASE 1638: THE CINEMATIC MACHINE

Sarah Chen

Sarah's original screenplay involves recursive archival investigation, her father's hidden history, institutional descent, and the 1-6-3-8 sonic pattern.

New here: the SUBJECT OF BADGE label, Agnes's keys becoming evidence, and Sarah using a generated report to protect the floor.

CASE 1638 / OPTIMAL TIMING

Margaret Wong

The Cinematic Machine identifies Margaret with the earlier case called Optimal Timing. The standalone prose manuscript remains the authority for the original story.

New here: Margaret's presence at the Academy, the chair by the window, and removing her shoes.

CASE 1638: RECALL

Gil Padilla & Mateo Reyes

The original screenplay separates Gil's success in proving contamination from his continuing responsibility toward Mateo.

New here: the Academy's request for one representative jar, Mateo removing the door, and the program used to record the balance still owed.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING

Bottomley, Maria, Sofia & Gwenn

In the play, Bottomley's correct answers produce consequences outside the contest. Maria and Sofia make those costs personal. Gwenn's damaged hand, teaching, and offered sheet music provide another form of transmission.

New here: the Academy tally board, Maria carrying cups, and Gwenn sitting with Sofia at the ordinary piano. The piano lesson at the Academy is not a scene from the play.

THE UNNAMED DAUGHTER

The Unnamed Daughter

The nonfiction book's method remains with figures whose suffering, labor, exclusion, or death supplies meaning for someone else's story.

New here: the visitor badge, the NAME field, the request for water, and the young woman's decision not to choose a name yet. She is a fictional embodiment created for this story, not a literal character imported from the nonfiction manuscript.

FICTIONALIZED AUTHOR FIGURE

Sive

The person appearing at the Academy is a fictionalized author figure inside the satire, not a substitute for the factual biography elsewhere on SIVE.BIO.

New here: the monument, three continents, the medal striking the door, and the ceremonial pen used for Mateo's balance.
