Liana Marie Sive is a writer, screenwriter, playwright, independent historian, archival researcher, and IRS Enrolled Agent based in Calais, Maine. Her original feature screenplay CASE 1638: RECALL, conceived and written in Machiasport and revised in Calais, won First Place in the 2026 Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition. The screenplay is a civic screwball noir and environmental procedural about contaminated water, damaged credibility, and a town learning to turn separated records into public proof. She is developing it as a literary novel, expanding interiority, documentary fragments, medical and maintenance histories, and the moral lives behind the file.

Sive is the author of the completed supernatural-historical sequence The Schattendorf Echoes and the six-volume queer/trans literary cycle Wondrous Travels; the agent-ready book-length nonfiction manuscript The Unnamed Daughter; the stage play Double or Nothing; CASE 1638: The Cinematic Machine; and three linked short stories of exactly 1,638 words each. She has also reconstructed the 1927 Schattendorf murder trial and its European press afterlife from a 1,024-image archival corpus.

Her illustrated biography Franz Marc: Religion, Art and Modern Europe connects painting and religious conviction with the practical conditions of artistic freedom. Maria Marc’s own work, her disagreements with Franz, and her role in preserving the legacy remain central. English and German editions are in preparation with Kunstdorf Verlag.

Sive holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in History from the University of California, San Diego, and an M.S. in Social Science from the California Institute of Technology, where she studied game theory with Peter Ordeshook and Thomas Palfrey. She pursued graduate study in law and economics at Emory University. Her undergraduate thesis, July 15, 1927: The Cannae of Austrian Freedom, received special recognition at the 1984 Revelle College commencement.
